Bursting Manager

Now you can burst a large instance to small ones or burst one report to many!

Two powerful report burst and fan alternatives are supported:

Option 1:

Single-Pass Burst - burst an existing large instance to smaller individual ones

  • Destinations: repository, email, network file location

  • Instance owner: scheduler or recipient

  • Formats: rpt, xls, xls data only, doc, pdf, csv, txt, rtf

  • Business rules: from Business View or a selection formula stored in a database Scheduled burst: program object scheduling, command line scheduling (v.9)

Option 2:

Multi-Pass Burst - schedule one report to burst to many small instances

  • Destinations: repository, email, network file location

  • Instance owner: scheduler or recipient

  • Formats: all XI/CE supported formats

  • Business rules: from Business View, report parameter or a selection formula stored in a database

  • Scheduled burst: program object scheduling, command line scheduling (v.9)

  • Notification: on alert, success or failure

  • Report defaults: schedule/database logon/parameters/filters/ format/events

Bursting to Different Printers

For both bursting a large instance or generating small instances, print the report to a static or dynamically selected printer. With dynamic printer selection, you can use business rules to print sections of the report to different printers. This printing option is in addition to the regular bursting destination, so Bursting Manager is actually able to do three things for you at once - burst, distribute and print.

Bursting Manager supports BusinessObjects XI, BusinessObjects EDGE, BusinessObjects Crystal Decisions, Crystal Reports Server and Crystal Enterprise!

“Because of the large number of instances we generate each month, we have to have Bursting Manager! ROI was early – it paid for it self in the first few months. The Bursting Manager tool initially saved one of our customer service reps ten days a month but that was years ago with fewer reports than we have now.”
