Example of a Business Problem
Across the organization, overly complex, disconnected data systems hindered users
from understanding what was happening in the business. Although seen as an opportunity,
current business users lacked self-service interactive access to a myriad of internal
data sources.
Solution and Use
They built a centralized data warehouse using BusinessObjects Data Integrator to
pull data from all their various data silos, legacy mainframes, external data, and
more. They then provided users with BusinessObjects WebIntelligence analysis, enabling
them with self-service data access and analysis.

Purchasing – By analyzing vendor product, pricing and purchasing
rate data, purchasing can reduce the total number of vendors and improve contracts
with remaining vendors. This ongoing effort results in reduced costs and improved
product quality.

Manufacturing - Production cost analysis determines whether it
is more cost-effective to fill product orders by firing up another production plant
or contracting a third party to fill the order.

Sales – Drill down on and segmentation analysis allow representatives
and managers indulge in a 360º view of sales performance. Struggling sales areas
are identified and sales quotas met.

Supply chain - By tapping profitability data, analysts reveal customers
and supply chains that are costly to serve and maintain. Analysts can then rectify
areas of loss, and thus boost profitability.
