Solutions Kit for ESRI GIS *Release Announcement

We're pleased to announce the August 7 release of our new Solutions Kit for ESRI GIS, a powerful two-way bridge between two industry-leading business intelligence solutions – ESRI ArcIMS and Business Objects XI R2.

we're working hard on a Java version and are currently seeking potential beta sites. If you're interested in learning more about our beta program for this new Java version, please let us know as soon as possible.

Case Study - City of Troy *Cool customer

"We were delighted to see how easy it was to implement the APOS Solutions Kit for ESRI GIS, to seamlessly serve BusinessObjects XI reports back to ArcIMS users based on selected map features. It took very little technical knowledge of ArcIMS to add the Crystal Report functionality to the standard ESRI html map template.”

Background:
Troy, Michigan is the 12th largest city in Michigan by population and the 2nd largest city in the state based on total property value. The City of Troy was looking to fill the gap between their GIS and reporting systems.

Challenge:
The City of Troy manages over 1,600 survey benchmarks made available for the public to use as survey reference points. The City of Troy wanted to use a Crystal Reports URL to send a request for a report and receive a Crystal Report back with a map image embedded from their ESRI ArcIMS server, based on a variable in the report. For example: a map zoomed in 300ft around a fire hydrant that was featured in the report.

Solution:
The APOS Solutions Kit for ESRI GIS enabled the City of Troy to leverage location intelligence with their reporting analytical capabilities. “It was very easy to implement and didn’t require extensive custom development. The end users were very accepting of the APOS Solutions Kit as it made their job much easier,” said Alex. All 400 of the City’s employees can utilize the report and mapping tools without the assistance of the IT department. It also turned a multi-step process into a one step process. The City of Troy foresees utilizing the APOS Solutions Kit for ESRI GIS in many other applications throughout all the departments at the City of Troy. More . . .

We're pleased to announce that our new Solutions Kit for ESRI is now supported within GeoCortex IMF, a powerful extension to the ESRI GIS platform.

The APOS Solutions Kit for ESRI allows a user to load the ESRI ArcIMS HTML viewer with report data as highlighted features. But, by using GeoCortex IMF with the Solutions Kit, you can add:

Expanded Acetate Support

One of the main benefits of supporting acetate ESRI viewing is that you can put data on the map that does not belong to the spatial data set. The acetate text can come from generated values within Business Objects and generate a more powerful ESRI GIS viewing experience that may include:

• text, labels, multiple labels

• different line types, thickness and colours

• different symbols, sizes, colours, etc.

• different polygon with fills, line thickness and colours

Bursting Manager is one of our most popular products, with these key features:

• Option 1: Single-Pass Burst - burst an existing large instance to smaller individual ones using business rules from a Business View or a selection formula stored in a database.

• Option 2: Multi-Pass Burst - schedule one report to burst to many small instances
using business rules: from Business View, report parameter or a selection formula stored in a database.

• Bursting to Different Printers - for both of the above options, print the report to a static or dynamically selected printer. With dynamic printer selection, you can use business rules to print sections of the report to different printers. This printing option is in addition to the regular bursting destination, so Bursting Manager is actually able to do three things for you at once - burst, distribute and print.

And now . . .  we've added some new capabilities . . .

• Large Instance Desktop Intelligence Bursting - now you can maintain a consistent process and business rules for bursting Crystal Reports as well as Desktop Intelligence reports.

• Refresh Values - each parameter in a bursting definition can use values that are set on the report object in the CMC will be used as an alternative to the values saved in the bursting definition.

• Multiple Database - now logon information for multiple databases is supported.
