BEx Analyzer, BEx Reports and BEx Broadcaster have long been critical ingredients in the analytics mix of many SAP customers. But the simplicity and reliability of the BEx solution that made it popular are also preventing some of these customers from moving ahead in their analytics programs. If it isn't broken, why fix it?
Unfortunately for BEx users, Microsoft has announced the end of extended support for Office 2016 and 2019 as of October 14, 2025, meaning there will be no new security updates or fixes, no bug fixes or feature updates, and no technical support from Microsoft.
SAP's Glen Leslie joins us to discuss the impact of Microsoft's end of support, as well as the options and opportunities for BEx users moving forward.
SAP has confirmed that this will mark the sunset of BEx, and December 31, 2027 will be the end of mainstream maintenance for SAP BW 7.5. Organizations using BEx will have to find ways to replace their BEx workflows, including:
- BEx Analyzer
- BEx Reports
- BEx Broadcaster
This session will explore the backstory, options and opportunities BEx users will have to replace their BEx workflows, including:
- Continuing to use of BEx without Microsoft extended support
- Moving BEx workflows to SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office (AfO)
- Moving to SAP Analytics Cloud Add-In for Excel
- Moving to SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) Stories
- Replacing BEx Broadcaster functions with APOS Publisher for Cloud
Organizations choosing any of these options will face challenges, especially when it comes to broadcasting their reports. The session will also explore the ways APOS Publisher for Cloud can provide an alternative to BEx Broadcaster and overcome limitations in the broadcasting capabilities of SAP Analytics Cloud Publications.
