Update: Exporting Data from SAP Analytics Cloud with APOS Export Data Gateway

Since we published this post back in 2021, there have been some new development in export capabilities with APOS Data Gateway’s Export Data Gateway.

APOS Export Data Gateway is designed to meet strategic requirements for data extracts from a data source, which are then saved to a static file (CSV) and distributed to a targeted location or user. These capabilities provide effective automation to meet common requirements where a static data file is needed to fuel a separate data process, a regulatory requirement, or other strategic information need. It enables:

  • High-volume data exports
  • Scheduled recurring exports
  • Automated delivery
  • On-demand data exports

APOS Export Data Gateway enables scheduled processes to export SAP Analytics Cloud Planning data to a CSV file and send to a strategic user or file location.

Exporting from SAP Analytics Cloud

We have had a number of customers ask us whether there is an easy way to export data from SAP Analytics Cloud. The answer is no, unless you have APOS Publisher for Cloud. There are many possible reasons you might want to export data from SAP Analytics Cloud. The most common one we have heard is the need to flow planning data in other applications.

Here’s the simple procedure that allows you to export data from SAP Analytics Cloud using APOS Publisher for Cloud:

  1. Build a grid-only story with a grid of the data you want to export.
  2. Use APOS Publisher for Cloud to burst that story in CSV or Excel format. (Use a filter if you need to chunk the data.)
  3. Save the file to disk or FTP it to where it is needed.

You can also use filters to get the latest data and burst on a schedule to keep your exported data up to date.

If you want to explore this option, please contact your APOS Account Manager, or make a solution inquiry. If you already have APOS Publisher for Cloud and need help exporting data from SAP Analytics Cloud, please contact APOS Customer Support.
