APOS PowerBurst - Consolidated & Paginated Report Bursting

PowerBurst covers complex report bursting scenarios

Some report broadcasting scenarios are much more complex than others. Fortunately, the combination of Power BI and APOS PowerBurst allows you to simplify these scenarios.

Consolidating reports and analysis into a briefing book is a time-honored means of ensuring that decision makers have all the relevant facts and arguments at their fingertips while they deliberate issues critical to the organization. Assembling a briefing book has traditionally been a labor-intensive task, and labor-intensive tasks can be prone to human error.

Paginated Power BI reports let you create long-form reports that can be referenced using page numbers to simplify use by your information consumers.

PowerBurst Automates Consolidation

Automating report consolidation to create briefing books simplifies the process, shortens timelines and reduces the probability of human error.

You control the generation and distribution of reports in APOS Publisher with a bursting definition. In this bursting distribution, you can list documents from various sources in the order in which you want them displayed in your consolidated report. The consolidated report can include multiple formats such as PDF, PowerPoint and Excel. Within the consolidated report, you can also consolidate multiple PDFs into a single PDF, multiple presentations into a single PowerPoint file, and multiple spreadsheets into a single Excel workbook.

The sources for your individual files are profile-controlled, meaning you can choose the security context to use with each destination specified in your bursting definition. Your recipients receive personalized documents containing only the information to which they are entitled by the source security context.

The bursting definition also controls the document generation processes that precede consolidation. As the bursting definition executes, it can generate multiple versions of documents according to your specified context and write them to your specified locations. PowerBurst consolidates and broadcasts these files to the appropriate recipients at the appropriate destinations.

PowerBurst Broadcasts Power BI Paginated Reports

If you need pixel-perfect reports consisting of many pages, Paginated reports might be the right option for you, especially if you are creating documents of record that should not be interactive, and when the data set exceeds the allowed extraction size for standard Power BI reports.

Paginated reports resemble traditional documents rather than analytical experiences such as dashboards and summary reports with drill-down capabilities. Typical uses for Paginated reports include:

  • Customer statements
  • Operational packets
  • Regulatory submissions
  • Board reports

PowerBurst can broadcast your Paginated reports regardless of size, taking advantage of its maximum attachment size feature.
