Real-time Dashboards and Reporting -
BIBA Fashion and PwC Deploy APOS Publisher for Cloud

"Implementing Publisher for Cloud was a key part of developing our SAP ecosystem within BIBA. BW/4HANA helps us to achieve data readiness, and APOS technology allows us to personalize SAC and AfO reporting to upper management team and to our retail and distribution management network. As we introduce more real-time, near-real-time, and predictive analysis use cases for faster views into business performance for quicker decision making, we foresee the role and impact of APOS Publisher for Cloud will continue to grow."
Rahul Gaud, Business Analyst, BIBA Fashion

BIBA Fashion produces and markets women's wear with an ethnic flair for sale in retail stores across India and online around the world. The word "BIBA" is a respectful Punjabi term of endearment for a woman, reflecting the way BIBA combines traditional ethnic design with modern fashion innovation and a passion for social awareness and conversations on women's issues and empowerment.

BIBA is the dream of Mrs. Meena Bindra, who founded the company on the strength of an 8,000-rupee loan in the 1980s. BIBA has grown from a home-based business to a national brand in the years since those humble beginnings. Today, the company is led by Mr. Siddharth Bindra, who continues to drive its vision forward. BIBA's relations with the Indian film industry have made the company a pioneer in Bollywood apparel merchandising.

Landscape & Core Challenge

BIBA adopted SAP BW/4HANA in 2021 to serve their data warehousing, data consolidation and data modeling needs. At the same time, they adopted SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) for improved management of Manufacturing and Inventory processes, as well as enhanced Sales activity analysis and planning. An important requirement was to provide daily sales result reports directly to upper management, including prior period sales comparisons, with both consolidated and segmented views of this sales analysis across all their sale channels. Those channels include EBOs (Exclusive Brand Outlets), LFS (Large Format Stores), Distribution, Marketplace, and E-commerce. In addition to a full company view for upper management, individual territory managers require similar information be delivered to them, but the provided data must be restricted to each zonal manager's area of responsibility. For Inventory analysis, BIBA uses SAP Analysis for Office (AfO) for high data-volume inventory reports to support zonal manager and analyst needs. As BIBA's data capabilities grew, so did dashboard and report distribution needs. These needs quickly grew beyond the native publishing capabilities of SAP Analytics Cloud, so BIBA turned to their implementation partner, Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC), to help them find the means to burst personalized reports in a timely and secure manner.

Solution Requirements

  • Data-driven, automated SAC and AfO report bursting processes
  • Multi-channel sales analysis reports delivered to upper management on timely and recurring basis
  • Personalized reports distributed to a range of roles within retail and distribution management to ensure each has the information critical to their responsibilities

Solution Barriers

SAP Analytics Cloud Publications restrictions:

  • Personalization - the process for secure filtering and distribution of reports is complex, and no dynamic process to fulfill these needs exists within Publications
  • Volume and Timeliness - Publications could not scale to required volume levels, limiting the timely delivery of information to necessary stakeholders
  • Analysis for Office report distribution - SAC does not support Analysis for Office report publishing
  • Formatting of spreadsheets is not retained in the broadcast report.

Finding the Solution

PwC provided business advisory and consulting services to BIBA. They evaluated potential solutions to BIBA's report broadcasting needs and recommended APOS Publisher for Cloud.

APOS Publisher for Cloud is a software solution that automates the generation of tailored versions of report content from SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and Analysis for Office (AfO), and then distributes that analytics content out to targeted users and locations. The solution functions to broadcast analytics to the right people, at the right time, and in the right format.

Outcomes

BIBA values Publisher for Cloud for its ability to deliver sensitive sales and financial data in a secure and timely manner to upper management and stakeholders, ensuring that each receives only the information to which they are entitled according to data security policies.

BIBA achieved:

  • Data-Driven Distribution: Dynamic flexibility to push content out to managers to ensure timely and optimal decision making.
  • Ease of Use: Automation provides data-driven set-and-forget broadcasting capabilities and monitor distribution easily from an administrator account.
  • Reduced IT burden: Data-driven bursting and automation greatly reduce the burden on BIBA's IT and analytics teams.
